Play! By Sephora Beauty Box – July 2016

I’m a big fan of beauty and of subscription boxes and am always looking for the next best one. That’s why when Sephora announced they would be curating a luxury beauty brand box called “Play! By Sephora”, I was more … Continue reading

BoxyCharm ~ February

So, I know this is a little delayed, however I still wanted to get it up and posted! The February Boxycharm theme was “Kisses from Boxycharm” and definitely had a mix of hearts, pink and red items and an overall pampering theme. I … Continue reading

Wantable ~ Makeup Box ~ July

image

I’ve received a Wantable Makeup Box in the past (see review here), and even subbed to the Wantable Intimates Box for a while too (see reviews here) but with the influx of beauty products coming in from Ipsy, Birchbox, Glossybox, Boxycharm, Blush Mystery Box and more, I became a bit overwhelmed with makeup, skincare and other products and needed to take a break. However, this month I racked up enough referrals and credits and decided to go for it and get one!

image

I was very picky and specific when filling out my personal beauty survey, where they let you rate how you feel about products, colors, consistency, formula etc. Like for me, I’m not a lipliner girl, nor so I rock sparkly eyeshadow or blush, and I steer far away from nail polish as I think I own 5873458743 bottles, however, I was really looking for.

Here’s the first look!

image

Okay, so the first item (and one of my new favorites!) in my Wantable Box is Tarina Tarantino Pearl Glow Primer (value $32) The only reason I recognized this name/brand was because I just received the Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Hyperliner and Hyperlight, two eye products that came in a recent BoxyCharm. This product is a dual-use: it works to prime your skin for foundation and makeup, plus it has a dewy ‘pearl’ glow to it, to make you l0ok refreshed and glowing. The only thing I don’t like is the smell, because it’s a bit chemical-smelling, but all in all so happy for this full-sized primer!

image

I was actually just running out of my usual Sephora Liquid Eyeliner, when this baby arrived! This Mica Beauty Felt Tip Eyeliner ($30 value) offers long-lasting, precise lines of color, while going on smoothly and easily with the pen-like applicator. It lasts through an entire day of getting ready in the morning, commuting on the train and subway, working an 8-hour day and then commuting back home!

image

Next we have another familiar brand and product, Mirabella Pretty & Provocative Lip Color in Fever ($22 value). I recently received this same lip product in the color Tantrum, a hot pink, also from Boxycharm, and loved it! So, I was excited to see this bold red shade in my Wantable box. I kinda wanted a crazy, bold color like the purple-ish shade that the model/designer was wearing on my information card, but you can never have too many reds!

image

I really wanted to love these Vincent Longo La Dolce Vita Eyelash Tips ($15 value), however they didn’t quite fit/work as I expected. Sometimes false eyelashes can be too long, thick or basically, fake looking, and so I thought these would be a nice natural way to extend the outer part of my lashes. Unfortunately, they were a bit too short and then clumped up when I tried to apply mascara to blend it all together.

image

Finally, we have an Ofra Cosmetics Pressed Blush ($15 value) in a very simple peachy-pink-nude shade. I was happy to see it wasn’t a super bright pink or dark bronzer, but it’s subtle and seems like it would work well on many skin tones.

image

Here’s the entire set of items! I was really happy to see that they focused on the type of items I wanted and like and will actually use. I’ve even been using the Tarina Tarantino Pearl Primer and the Mica Cosmetics Felt Tip Eyeliner daily! The only let down for me were the fake eyelashes, as they didn’t blend and work as well as expected, but all in all, I was very happy with this box!

Ipsy Glambag ~ July

I was very excited for my Ipsy Glambag to arrive this month, based on the sneak peeks that Ipsy supplied on their Facebook page. Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to posting about all the spoilers, but never fear, I still … Continue reading

Memebox Scent Box #1 Rose

My first official MemeBox has arrived! Before I get into the unboxing, I want to explain a little bit about the company, how it works and what types of products they send. Memebox, which is pronounced as “Mi-mi-box” (not meme) … Continue reading

Blush Mystery Box ~ September

image

Hi all! So I got a brown box in the mail a few days ago containing that usual black drawstring bag and all of the items in my Blush Mystery Box (which, in my opinion, they should call it mystery bag). I popped it open and decided to check out the info card and see all the details…

image

The curator this month was Sarah Strand of Pop Beauty, a cosmetics company. Of course that meant the feature product would be a Pop Beauty product, and then she picked 6 others to go along side it.

image

While I do like this Pop Beauty Pouty Lip Crayon, I actually got the same exact one in my July Ipsy Glambag, and got two similar pink Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blushes in my August GlossyBox. I mean, I’ll definitely use it, however I’m overrun with these products at the moment.

Next to that is a little black tube of Brad Biophotonic Skin Care Ultra Peel. This product is to be applied like a face scrub/mask and used to get rid of dry, dead skin and reveal fresh, new glowing skin. This sample-size tube looks like it will last anywhere from 2-5 applications, and I’m intrigued to test it out…

image

For any nail polish fanatics, I received this teal lacquer by LVX which is a new company to me, but apparently is high-rated. While I wish I got the burgundy color that is on the info card, I’m sure I’ll test this one out, or pass it onto a friend as it’s a bit bolder than I’m used to.

image

Next up is Anastasia Clear Brow Gel. If any of you remember, last month in my August Blush Mystery Box, I got an Anastasia Water-Proofing Mascara by this brand, which is supposed to be applied to make non-waterproof mascara stable in wet conditions. This one is to be used to clean up your eyebrows and ‘keep them in place’.

Next to that is Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Dry Shampoo. This sample sized product, like many other dry shampoos, is meant to freshen up day-old hair and soak up any unnecessary oils. It’s great for on the go or weekends away, so I’m sure it’ll get use when I stay at K’s house for a long weekend.

image

I first heard of Amtactin from Beauty Army, and looked into it to see that it’s a whole line of skin care/lotion products. This one specifically is a clinical-strength foot cream, meant to intensely hydrate rough, dry, and callused feet. This will be much needed after commuting back and forth to the city with boots and heels all week.

image

Finally, we have this deluxe sampler kit from Racinne Skin Care, which includes Ultimate Youth Power Lotion, Serum, Eye and Neck Creams. This set of 4 anti-aging products are meant to work together to reduce lines and wrinkles, remove uneven spots and refresh skin to look young and lively. Full size, they are pretty pricey, and so although I don’t really use/need anti-aging yet, I may test them out to see their strength.

image

Here’s the whole set of products from my September Blush Mystery Box (plus a sample)! I’m so-so with this box as I don’t really need anti-aging products or any more lip blushes/crayons, but I know I’ll find use with many of them either personally or for gifting.

Beauty Sage Editor’s Sampler Box ~ August 2013
