GlossyBox ~ August

image

So I’m normally a total GlossyBox Advocate but this month was so-so. I’ll show you all the products and explain as I go along…

First off, not totally sure if it’s their fault or mine, but I cancelled my monthly sub (after being billed) and started up a 6-month sub with a discount code they were offering (and used Ebates too for an extra $2.75) So, I contacted them on the 16th and was like “Just wanted to see if you could delay it so I don’t get billed/shipped two of the same boxes…” and didn’t get a response back so I e-mailed again a week later and it had already been shipped. So… I dealt with it and crossed my fingers that I would love the products.

The theme this month was Bohemian summer, and I really liked their packaging as usual and that they send a card with information on the products.

So I opened up my box to see a Guess GlossyBox Bag and a 30% coupon. I’m not a huge Guess person, except loving their magazine ads, so perhaps I’ll check it out online. The bag is so-so, I can definitely use it to hold makeup or pens/pencils at work.

I was happy to see the Sue Devitt product, as I had received a lip/cheek compact from a Shecky’s event last year and really liked it. This one is a Sue Devitt Triple C-Weed Pressed Powder is a high-quality powder used on top of foundation/bb cream to help give the look of flawless skin. It’s a one-color-fits-all and I have a feeling I’ll like it.

The Novex Brazillian Keratin Care Cream seems like a cool item, as it contains ingredients to help nourish and repair dry or damaged hair. I’ve had good results with other keratin products in the past, so I have my fingers crossed that this works well.

The Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush had me really excited, even though I had already received a Pop Beauty Hot Pink Lip Crayon in my July Ipsy Glambag. So, I had my hopes that they would send another color to me.. perhaps a red or coral. Unfortunately not, but I like the product so far, so having 3 of them just gives me a year-long supply!

Anatomicals Spray Misty For Me Facial Spritz is another so-so product for me. I have received a Juice Beauty Misting Face Spray in a prior Ipsy Glambag, and an Evian Facial Spray in my FabFitFun Box this quarter (review up soon!) and so I don’t have too much of a use for it. At first I thought it was a beachy hair mist, which seems to be a hot product for subscription boxes this summer. This facial mist may have been helpful during the heat wave this year, but right now I have a feeling I’ll barely get through one bottle.

Now.. onto what I’m most disappointed about: I don’t think I would have minded the double-boxes based on the Lip Blush, Sue Devitt Powder and possibly even the Novex Hair Product, however the final product I got in the box was a ModelCo Dual Eyeshadow.

Now, if this is the first time I saw/got the product, it wouldn’t be a problem. However, I not only got the ModelCo Eyeshadow in both boxes, instead of the nail polish that everyone else seemed to receive, but I had already received the ModelCo Eyeshadow as a “Special Extra” by using the promo code LOVE when I signed up and got my box in June (review here). It doesn’t seem like I got an ‘extra’ if they’re using it and sending it out as one of the main products in this months box. So yeah, now I have 3 of the same exact dual ModelCo Eyeshadow…. Great.

Well, I signed up for a 6-month subscription and have 5 months left… I really am hoping that GlossyBox steps up their game for next month and include some good quality and unique products. Fingers crossed….

xo Kenzie
