What’s on my mind: This is quite a mix of feelings and thoughts: First off: Sleep. I “attempted” to go to bed early last night, but somehow got sucked into watching three episodes of Chicago Fire and went to bed … Continue reading
What’s on my… mind: So, I’m not sure how many of you enjoy my ‘personal’ posts like those on my weekend re-caps, “what’s on my…. ” mind posts, recipes and more (hey, if you like em, let me know!), but … Continue reading
Hi lovelies! I hope you’ve been enjoying my posts for the month of July, and I still have a few left that just arrived this last week of the month! I have a feeling August is also going to be a busy, but productive month!
Now, onto the good stuff…
What’s on my Mind?
This one’s going to be long.
(Sorry for the blurry picture, but it was the first one I could find that showed Ozzy!)First off, Kevin’s dog Ozzy, a chocolate lab unfortunately had to be put down Wednesday night, which is sad enough news. Worse, is that his other dog, Rocky, a chubby little pug has been sitting and crying at the door and window all day waiting for him to come home. That was his best bud for about 10 years, so he’s not taking it well, and it’s just so sad to see.
Next up, I’m really confused about what’s going on with FabFitFun. I was in contact with an employee who was offering Summer boxes to certain bloggers and affiliates, and continued to send out e-mail reminders like that they would be shipping out soon, sneak-peeks etc., not your normal e-blast e-mails. And I continued to stay in contact, and patiently waited to see if I would be receiving my box. So now, I’m guessing not? It did state that if you didn’t get one this season, you would be getting the next one (Fall), however I have yet to hear back from them or have any e-mails answered. Fingers crossed something positive happens…
I’m also possibly getting boxes from Beauty Box 5 and Splendies, but it wasn’t a definite answer. I think I’ll need to follow up with them and see if I should be expecting August boxes!
What’s on my Subscription List?
If you look at my archives or previous entries, you’ll see that there are certain boxes I get every month, and every once in a while I either decide to sign up for a new subscription, or have a company gracious enough to send me a complimentary or reduced-price box for reviewing! So far, here are the new companies I will be featuring for the next two months:
SkoshBox, Splendies, KlutchClub, Goodies Co., Graze (FINALLY GOT A CODE!), Allure Beauty Box, Beauty Box 5, The INN Box (by Inzuri) & The Pleasure Pantry.
What Else is Happening:
I hope you all won’t be too upset with me that I’ll be posting my last few July boxes this week, but I won’t be getting any new boxes until next week so I need something to hold me over. 🙂
Plus, I’m sure you’ll love to see what’s in these!
I also have a GIVEAWAY for an 8-pack of NibNaks snacks, which have been featured in past Taste Trunk and Juniper boxes! If you enjoyed your dried fruit blends then, why not enter to possibly win some free ones? They’re low calorie, additive free and delicious!

It’s time for another “What’s on my…” round-up with my favorite foods, outfits and more!
What’s on my plate:
Salad!!! I have been loving salad all week from homemade ceasar salad with chicken to mixed greens, berries, goat cheese and walnuts, to tuna salad with tons of crunchy veggies mixed in! I always have some combination of greens, protein and veggies: if you eat just lettuce and carrots, you’ll be miserable! This delicious one was from yesterday: mixed greens, all topped with egg, turkey bacon, avocado, red pepper, cherry tomatos, strawberries and raspberry vinaigrette, mmmm! I always like having a healthy lunch because it not only keeps me feeling light, but also gives me the fuel to get through the rest of the work day! I usually have it with a side of: fruit, veggies and hummus, trail mix or some variation. And why ruin a good lunch with soda or calorie-stocked juice? I opt for either water, fresh brewed green or fruit teas, or light versions of drinks so that I don’t end up consuming 100-200 calories just from a drink!
What’s on my body:
Oh hey! This was my awesome outfit from yesterday. I apologize for my mess of a room, but it’s the only full-length mirror I could work with. Anyway, some days I am just super lazy and throw on whatever I can find for work. However, every once in a while when I’m feeling motivated or fashionable, I put together a great combo like this one! Top from Akira Chicago, Bottom from Forever 21, Necklace from Forever 21, Sandals (which you can’t really see, sorry!) from Urban Outfitters. Awesome sock bun by me.
What’s on my Recent Buys:
I am a chunky-necklace fiend. And I will never apologize or feel bad about it! I hate dainty little necklaces UNLESS they are either real-jewel gifts (like Kevin’s diamond heart-necklace I got for my birthday last year) or a long daingly chain with a charm/brooch/bottle on the end of it. Basically, statement pieces are my thing. So anyway, I had purchased a chunky white choker necklace in a slight flowery-shape a few months back, but unfortunately it just wasn’t made very well and I kept having to krazyglue parts back together, and it just finally broke this week for good. So, luckily I was at the mall the other day and saw this gem (HAH-GET IT!) at Forever21 and it was the last one in white! I had a tough time deciding between light pastel pink and white, but this one was the winner! Can’t wait to wear it and I’m sure you’ll all see pictures of it soon.
What’s on my Shopping List:
So I went to Trader Joes this week expecting to pick up about 6 items… and left with like 60! Once I enter that store, I just can’t stop buying! I absolutely love everything they have from their organic 19 cent bananas to their array of healthy chips and frozen snacks. While you can only see a few of the items in this picture, here’s a list of my favorite things I picked up: Speculoos Cookie Butter, Chocolate Cat Cookies, Vanilla Unsweetened Almond Milk, Black Bean Soup, Red Curry Sauce, Honey Goat Cheese, Whole Wheat Pizza Dough, PB&J Chocolate Bar, Zico Chocolate Coconut Water, Green Juice and sooo much more!
Stay tuned for more subscription box reviews, giveaways and more! It’s going to be a busy weekend/next week.

What’s on my mind:
I can’t believe the weekend is over already! I had a successful spa weekend that consisted of hitting the gym, a manicure (getting new acrylic tips~~ see above!), getting an eyebrow wax, going shopping, and starting to get packed and ready for my vacation, which begins tomorrow night! Eeek!
I just went out and did a drugstore run to make sure I was fully stocked up with shampoo, conditioner, makeup, and of course, Sunscreen! (which you’ll see why this is so important below)
What’s on my body:
Aloe, lots of it. Why do you ask? Because I foolishly let myself get burnt to a crisp trying to get a nice base tan before my vacation. I know, so dumb, especially with all the articles about proper sun and skin care and how drastic a sunburn can affect your skin and possibility for cancers. And so, here is my list of favorite self-tanners, because those are all I’m going to be using for a while!
I have always been a huge fan of the gradual self-tanners, like Jergens Perfect Glow and L’Oreal Sublime Bronze. They recently re-vamped their formulas to smell better, go on easier, and last longer!
I just purchased and used the L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Lotion and Misting Spray (I usually get the gradual tanner lotion but I decided to go for the straight-up self tanner this time). Both the Self-Tanner Lotion and Aerosol Spray are effective, and give you a nice glow without looking like an Oopma Loompa. Just be careful to shave and exfoliate before hand, and to go easy around your elbows, knees, wrists and ankles or else they will be 2 shades darker than the rest of your body. For under $12 a pop, these are my favorites when I want to get glowing in a day! Depending on your activities, it could last up to a week! Personally, I apply the self-tanner about 2x per week, as I do go to the gym a few times per week. If you’re the type of person who goes into the ocean/goes to the beach 5 days a week, you may need to re-apply more often because of the salt water and sand rubbing it off. I’m going to use the Spray version to refresh/touch up my tan tomorrow, so I’ll let you know if I recommend one over the other. I would not use the tan-towels version- suuuper streaky!
Jergens now has a 3-day ‘super’ formula that is supposed to make you gradually tanner in less time than normal! I tried this one a few weeks ago, and think it’s definitely a great product and you get the same results from applying 2x than with the regular formula you have to apply it approx. 4 times for the same result. The only downside to this product is that it’s the same price (give or take) as the normal gradual self tanner, however it’s a smaller bottle so you need to purchase it more often to maintain your tan.
Each of these companies do make separate face tanners for those of you with oily or acne-prone skin. I don’t buy them that often, but it is a nice option to have if the regular lotions are too ‘oily’ for your more delicate skin and clog your pores.
Now, if you want to talk the pricier, overnight bronze goddess formulas, I’ll point you in the direction of St. Tropez (Self Bronzing Lotion or Mousse- $40), Beautisol Summer Glow ($40) or Fake Bake ($25-35) . But please, exfoliate and wear either gloves or a mitt with these, or else your hands will be brown for days! And put down old sheets on your bed so you don’t ruin your nice stuff with brown goo! PLUS: I just found out the hard way, that these formulas (the direct tanners/not gradual tanning lotions) that while they are the best hands down for flawless application and that perfect glow, after a while they do go bad. I reently opened up my cabinet to see which I still had left to use, and when I began to pour it out, it was this EMERALD-MOSSY GREEN COLOR! So, if you’re going to spend the cash to buy it, please make sure you use it within 6 months or so.
What’s on my To-Do list:
The reviews for the June Bulu Weight Loss Box and June Wantable Beauty Box and June GlossyBox will be going up within the next day or so! Hope you’re all excited to check those out, or if you want to can look back at my recent reviews of Out of The Box Sampler, Juniper, Peckish, Sent Her Way or JackedPack!
I have a bunch of new subscriptions as well as current ones soon to arrive for July, so prepare for a busy month of posts once I’m back from vacation. I have some of the following soon to feature for July: The Fantasy Box, BeautyArmy, Ipsy Glambag, SkoshBox, NatureBox, JackedPack Custom, FitBox by Platinum Box, and MORE! That is a serious amount of boxes.. plus I’m sure there are more that I just can’t think of at the moment.
I’m also working on/looking into new subscription box companies for August, so if anyone knows of New or Up-and-Coming Subscription Box companies that are looking for blogger reviews, let me know! You can comment here on my post or e-mail me at kenziedegen@gmail.com
So…. what’s on your mind/to-do list and body today!?

What’s on my Mind: I wish terribly that I was at the beach right now instead of sitting at my desk, in an office without air conditioning. They say ‘they’re working on it’…. sigh. So, I’m just thinking about how … Continue reading
