Hi all! If you recall, I recently posted here about Mean Duffle, a brand new company that’s determined to send you the best fitness and workout supplements and products. Best of all, each month comes in a unique duffle bag, perfect for packing your gym clothes, water bottle and supplements to bring to the gym. As many of you know, I’ve become a bit of a gym rat and have tried various sports and fitness subscription boxes and have found some that are great and some… not so great. Mean Duffle actually makes me want to cancel all my workout sub boxes and invest solely in this one! Why? Well.. read on!
Mean Duffle, a New York company (represent!), is currently in Beta Testing mode and is offering test bags at $29.99 + tax/shipping. On their website, they state that “Mean Duffle bags are perfect for those interested in finding new products that keep them looking and feeling great during their workout, as well as, helping subscribers to maintain a healthy lifestyle.” Based on the feedback from Beta testing, they will move on to a reoccurring subscription style service which offers approximately 20 product samples in each bag and some deluxe samples, like 10x usage pre-workouts and recovery formulas.
Every month after they launch, they will offer a different bag tailored towards a particular type of workout. The bags could range from workout types such as a crossfit bag or runner bag, to having celebrity athletes and trainers custom tailor a bag for a given month. This is extremely exciting to me, as I’m a gym-goer who likes to run, use machines, lift weights and do kickboxing/cardio classes. So, I would definitely benefit from a bag that focuses on HIT and weight training rather than yoga and meditation. If yoga happens to be the theme of one month, I can easily skip it without being charged the fee that is currently TBD.
So, enough of the general info… let’s get onto the supplements and samples! I was excited to receive my bag approximately 2 days after I ordered it! It was so quick, arrived in good condition and I couldn’t wait to check everything out. First, I noticed there was a brown envelope which contained an introduction/thank you letter from the Mean Duffle team, as well as promotional items and coupons.
First up, we have Zevia, a zerio calorie soda, in Root Beer and Cream Soda, that is created without sugar or artificial sweeteners. This is great if you’re really craving a Coke but don’t want all the fake products and temporary sugar high and crash that often comes with it.
Here we have Dream Water, which I’ve actually used before and really like. It’s a natural, melatonin-blended drink that you consume about 30 minutes before you want to go to bed and it helps you to not only fall asleep, but sleep well. Next to that is Xyience Xenergy Drink in Frostberry Blast, which i’m excited to try as an alternative to Redbull or Monster.
Next up are two bags of Eat Your Vegetables chips in Sour Cream & Onion, which are vegetable chips made with a unique blend including sweet potatoes, carrots and navy beans. I’m always into trying new, healthy snacks and so we’ll see how these compare.
Here we have Happy Squeeze Super Packs in Pomegranate, Blueberry & Pear. I’ve actually tried Happy Squeeze Greek Yogurt packs before and they were okay- kinda apple sauce tasting and consistency rather than yogurt. However, I have high hopes that this flavor and combination of ingredients work out in my favor.
Here we have a variety of Honey Stinger products! From left to right are Organic Energy Chews in Pomegranate Passion, Chocolate Waffles, and Gold Energy Gel. These are all supposed to give you energy pre-workout and recovery help and energy post-workout. The chocolate waffles sound like a delicious snack to keep you going midday!
I think this set of items must have excited me the most because I LOVE BSN products! Not only did they include three BSN products like Nitrix Advanced Strength, N.O.-Xplode Pre-Workout and Hyper Shred Thermogenic, but the Hyper Shred is a deluxe sample, and the N.O. Explode is multi-use, mini container which can contain up to 12 uses!
Now onto the protein and snack bars! Here we have a PowerCrunch Original Bar in Peanut Butter Creme. Power Crunch is a high-protein, low sugar creme-filled wafer cookie bar… sounds perfect to me! Next to that is a Barre Black Swan Chocolate Berry bar. It’s a rich nutty blend with cocoa and cranberries and serves as a good, balanced snack if you need something to hold you over or give you energy. I love all the names of the Barre bars as well.. very clever. Finally, we have a FIT (Food in Transit) Cranberry Almond Bar. I’ve actually never heard of this brand before, yet I’m interested in trying them because this bar is all natural, gluten, preservative and dairy free and vegan too!
I actually received a Pink Lemonade Eboost Powder in a previous ConsciousBox, and so I was happy to see the well-known brand in this bag as well. I got two different Eboost Energy Powders: Natural Acai Pomegranate Effervescent Powder and Orange Effervescent Powder. These are supposed to give you energy, vitamins and an overall forward boost whether you need it for a workout or to keep going on a normal workday.
I’ve been a big fan of USPLabs for a while (except for their recent major recall of OxyElite Pro, which gave me some anxiety as I had used it before) and so I was pretty pumped to see these Jack3d Advanced samples in Fruit Punch. They work as a great pre-workout formula for energy and pump.
1MR, also known as One More Rep is an Ultra-Concentrated Pre-Workout Powder meant to enhance energy, focus and muscle pumps. This one sounds pretty intense and so I can’t wait to try it, but I also have a feeling my heart will be racing and I’ll feel quite jittery.
Here we have a new brand (to me) called Zym Sports, maker of portable electrolyte tablets. I received two different flavors, Lemon-Lime and Berry. ZYM Lemon-Lime contains electrolytes, and vitamins to provide athletes with natural energy and higher endurance, and is also effective against fatigue and delivers superior hydration. ZYM Berry flavor is designed to replenish electrolytes with an energy boost. The formula is infused with 100 mg of caffeine to maintain stamina and combat fatigue.
Next up is AI Sports Magic Matcha Green Tea, a fine ground powder with a higher concentration of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fibers than other green teas. It’s pretty different, because you actually mix the powder with hot or cold water, rather than steep a tea bag.
Next to that is Immuno Gum in Mint, which I’ve actually used before! It came in a previous KlutchClub Box (see review here). It is a Proprietary Immunity Blend Gum that contains Zinc, Vitamin C, Echinacea, Elderberry, Siberian Ginseng, and Astragalus to help support your immune system, as well as give extra support when needed.
Here we have a pack of Beef Perky Jerky! I’ve heard of it but never tried it before… Perky Jerky is an all natural, ultra premium jerky made with a seven ingredient marinade, which includes Guarana, and is high protein, low carb/fat/cal and sounds perfect for when you need energy and are craving cheat food.
These two products, JetFuel Pyro and Nitraflex, are both made by GAT. JetFuel Pyro is a 4-stage thermogenic formula with key ingredients that support and help boost your metabolism’s ability to burn more fat. Nitraflex, I unfortunately won’t be using, because it’s a pre-workout supplement made with testosterone.
To be perfectly honest, I had no idea what this was.. I had to google it to find out it is an Outgo Microfiber Towel, a high-performance microfiber towel absorbs five times its weight in water—and it dries way faster than standard towels. It’s lightweight and folds down to fit in small spaces. Pretty cool, and definitely good to have in a gym bag.
Whew! that was a LOT of stuff! I’m definitely happy that I signed up for this Beta Test, and can’t wait to see the next month’s products once they launch: the bag, the samples, and best of all, the deluxe samples. I have my fingers crossed for some protein powder samples (preferably in cool flavors, as I’m too nervous to outright buy a 2 lb. marshmallow powder without trying it first), a to-go shaker bottle, possibly some resistance bands and/or some cool techie workout items.
