Love With Food Review ~ Oct/Nov

image

Hi all! I am always looking for great healthy, unique snacks and so I was happy when Love With Food offered to send me a box to review! I had tried them once in June (see review here) and liked the box, however was a bit overwhelmed with incoming boxes and tried to free up some space and money for new ones and never managed to resubscribe. Every now and then, I would see posts with some awesome products (clearly made me jealous) and so now I’m happy to have the chance to review them again!

Here’s the first look! Even though I only got this box a few days ago, their theme and information card made me realize I received an October/Halloween box, and I was okay with that. If anything, I imagined it would have sweet alternatives to Halloween candy and other ‘bad-for-you’ foods.

I like that they list all the items and their Twitter accounts, because it makes it easier to re-purchase if interested.

So first up, we have a Happy Squeeze Fruit & Veggie Twist pouch.Happy Squeeze is ALL OVER THE PLACE lately, as I received different samples in my KlutchClub and Mean Duffle  and other similar squeeze yogurt and smoothie brand packs in various other boxes.  This blend of blueberries, apples and carrots is supposed to fulfill a pretty healthy serving of fruits and veggies, plus it has antioxidants. I just hope it tastes more smoothie-like than apple-sauce texture.

Next we have Glee Gum and some Hard Candies.. I’ve actually tried Glee Gum before in my MunchIt box and it has a good flavor however it doesn’t last for very long. The candies were great though, and perfect for on-the-go!

I’m not sure who was more excited for these Chocolate Pizzelle Crisps– me or my mom. She grew up full Italian, and my aunt would make homemade pizzelle cookies for every holiday, so it became traditional for her to have them. The extra added chocolate flavor gave it a nice kick, and I used them to make mini ice cream sandwiches!

Here we have a package of Dang Toasted Coconut Chips. I’ve heard some good things about these in past boxes, and last night had an awesome appetizer with toasted coconut in it, so I think I’m going to attempt to recreate it!

Next up is a Kind Bar in Coconut Almond, which I’ve actually had before (I think from my FabFitFun Box). You reaaally have to love coconut and almonds to enjoy this bar. I personally think it’s a little too much for me, and ‘chewier/stickier’ than I would prefer, but I have friends who adore them.

Any paleo people out there? Check out these Caveman Cookies in a flavor called New World . These cookies are made with maple syrup, honey, almond meal, pecan meal, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and pumpkin pie spice, and are all natural, dairy and gluten free! I myself love cinnamon sugar and oatmeal raisin cookies so these get a thumbs up from me.

So, I’ll admit, this was the most confusing product in the box. It took me a while to realize, and even then, they’re almost so see-through and invisible, you think they may have disintegrated! Anyway, these PIXO Pearls Original are pearls of Gingras XO Apple Cider Vinegar, encapsulated in an alginate (seaweed) film. Created using molecular gastronomy, they give your food a new dimension of flavour as you bite into the pearls and experience a taste explosion. They suggest ‘sprinkling them on a salad, using them to spruce up a canapé or even to add a bite to cocktails.’

Here’s the whole set! My favorites from this month were the Chocolate Pizzelle Crips and the Dang Coconut Chips.. plus I’m very interested in trying those Vinegar Pearls!
