I had been anxiously waiting to get details on the Allure Beauty Box, and so when I found out it would be up for sale at 12PM on April 29th, I was beyond excited. That is… until the site crashed. Everything was chaotic for the next hour with a few people managing to purchase, but 99% locked out. I luckily got a different URL (see details here) and got through, and purchased this phenomenal box containing hair, skin, nail and makeup products worth $200+ for about $60!
So, although I revealed the full list of items here, I was still excited to dig in!
Here’s the first look at my box. I was actually surprised that it was smaller than usual, packed in a rectangular box, rather than a square box with boxes and packing inside.
I couldn’t wait to check everything out! I knew this box contained a LOT of hair products, so it seemed very ideal for my personality and style. Since there’s a full list of products here, I’m not going to go into too much explanation/description, but rather point out my favorites.
First up, we have these two body washes by Dove and Softsoap, which will easily get used in my household!
Hairspray galore!!! I was excited for the Big Sexy Hair Get Layered Spray (since I’ve used the brand before) and also can’t wait to test out the Aloxxi Flexible Spray and Rusk Freezing Spray.
Speaking of hairsprays.. I also got a bottle of Oscar Blandi Dry Heat Protect Spray and Pureology Dry Conditioner. I first tried a dry conditioner in my Birchbox (Serge Normant) and loved it!
I can’t wait to try the Not Your Mother’s Intensive Hair Renewal Treatment, as with the warm weather, ocean water and strong sun, my hair will take a beating. Additionally, I have the One ‘n Only Argan Oil Cream-to-Serum to add to my Argan Oil collection. GK Hair Thermal Stylher seems similar to the dry heat protector (Oscar Blandi above) but for use on wet hair!
This Developlus Anti-Aging Hair Treatment is really interesting to me.. it’s not a shampoo/conditioner set as I thought, but a 3-step treatment to help repair hair, enhance growth, and slow down aging.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to use the Redken Disrupting Cream Paste as it’s meant to texturize hair (often short, spikey styles), but I’ll definitely be tossing this Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face + Body Sunscreen SPF Stick into my beach bag!
Okay, so enough hair products… onto the face/skin/teeth! To prep and hydrate skin, we have Burt’s Bees Even-Tone Moisturizing Cream. Forget BB, we’re now onto CC creams! This color-corrective +beauty-blemish perfecting cream called CC+ by IT Cosmetics has SPF (extra helpful for summer!) but came in medium tone, so it’s too dark to wear until I get tan in the sun! Finally, for shining, white teeth, Rembrandt Deeply White Toothpaste!
Onto the towels! We have Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Clothes for removing makeup + Tantowel Self-Tan Towelettes for creating a streak-free sun-free glow.
They almost aaaalways have Sally Hansen products, so I was intrigued to see the colors/products in this quarterly box. I received a Sally Hansen Triple Shine Top Coat which I LOVE! I heard people mentioning that it bubbles, but it worked totally fine for me. Maybe the SH color + top coat made that happen? Anyway, I also got this bright hot pink SH Nail Color, and a FLOWER Nail’d It Nail Lacquer in a bold teal shade (I think called Good Bud-dy).
Now, onto the makeup! Two different mascaras were included: Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 which I LOVEEE and already use, and a Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara.
Now, the final items.. the lip color. They included a Cargo Cosmetics Essential Lip Gloss in a light pinky-nude color, as well as a Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in a peony pink!
Here’s a few highlights, so you can get a better look at the products:
Just about everything was full-size! I mean, the hairsprays were gigantic!
Here’s the entire set of items!
The Allure Summer 2014 Beauty Box was one of my favorites. While I wish it contained a few more tanning/bronzing products like a high-end mousse or spray self tanner or too faced bronzer, and possible a few more lip color products and face cleansing/exfoliating products, I was extremely happy with the quantity of hair products, the inclusion of high end brands and sizes of the bottles/items. Sure, there are a few items I may not use, or that will take me a while to get to, but all in all, definitely worth purchasing!
What do you think about the Summer 2014 Allure Beauty Box?
