Bestowed ~ January

So last month was my first experience with Bestowed, and I think I may have found a new food subscription box to stick with! For $19 per month ($10 for your first month using HELLOYUM40) you get this heavy box packed with items from on-the-go protein bars to curry sauce mixes and new superfoods like chia seeds and flax seeds.

Here’s the first look at the box! Each month, they have a cute white information cards containing recipes and background info on the products included.

And best of all, they included coupons for FREE items! None of those giftcards that make you spend $20+ to get a discount on an item.

They included 1 FREE Nasoya food item, which is the brand I usually buy of tofu (and they have awesome new no-carb noodles!), 1 FREE Stonyfield Greek yogurt and 1 Kombucha drink as well.

Here we have an EBOOST brand Energy Shot, which is similar to a 5-hour energy drink, but made of natural products. I can definitely use this to perk my energy levels up for a Friday night out after a long day at work!

Here we have two packages of MINI Cooggies, 1 in Double Chocolate Cookie and the other Oatmeal Raisin Cookie. The best part of this is that they’re not your average cookie, but are actually made with vegetables and other natural ingredients! The Oatmeal Raisin cookies are made with carrots, cauliflower, butternut squash and sweet potato, plus ingredients like whole what flour, oats and natural oils and fibers. The Double Chocolate Cookies, on the other hand, are made with zucchini, spinach, broccoli, peas and sweet potato, plus those same great natural and healthy ingredients. I definitely want to order more!

I’ve actually been seeing these Beanfields Bean & Rice Chips around lately (in supermarkets and subscription boxes) and so I was happy to get the chance to try them. I like the unique flavor of Pico De Gallo, and definitely would be open to a black bean or cheddar flavor.

Here we have a pack of Salba Chia Boost Whole Seeds. This single serving package was perfect for making some easy, overnight chia pudding! I combined this with milk, cocoa powder and agave nectar, and let it sit for 2 nights in the fridge to thicken into a pudding. I’ve become a chia lover and definitely will be adding them to my shopping list.

Hydration and energy drinks are very helpful whether you’ve had a long night or drinking or pre/post- a hard gym workout. This Skratch Exercise Hydration Mix in Pineapple is a nice change to my other workout supps and Gatorades.

I am a big fan of cookie-flavored protein bars (i.e. Quest Bar, Luna Bar, Think Thin, etc) and so I was really happy to see a Balance Bar in Dark Chocolate Peanut. What a combo! It has a pretty good amount of fiber and protein (while also low calorie) and so I’m interested in checking out other flavors as well.

I was intrigued by getting this product as it’s technically not a food item, but definitely helpful with winter colds and summer allergies. This Counter Attack Powerful Immune Response Herbal Supplement is a full month’s worth of tablets and so it could help battle potential flu and sickness.

Oatworks Pomegranate Blueberry Drink is a very new concept to me as I’ve never had a juice/drink containing oats! Heather included a great smoothie recipe in the Bestowed information packet to use this and so I may try it out. I can’t see myself drinking it everyday, but enjoyed it.

Here is the entire Bestowed January Box! I was impressed with last month’s and have to admit, this one holds pretty strong as well. One thing I would like to see would be more ‘dinner’ helpers like sauce mixes, healthy pasta/quinoa, etc. But I have to admit, this one gets a thumbs up in my book!

  1. I’ve never heard of this box before, but it seems like a great value! I love that they sent coupons for actual products… those $20 off “gift cards” one often gets don’t really add much value.
