What’s on my Mind:

20130713_091807_resized

Well, to start this post off, I reaaaaally don’t want to be back in reality: working 9-5, Monday to Friday, staring at the sun glaring down and knowing it’s 85 degrees outside and I could be laying on the beach, drink in hand, getting tan. Sigh.

But, there is an upside…..

What’s in my Mailbox:

I have so many awesome things to play with and test out when I get home from work! I came home to a huge pile of boxes, sample packages and magazines the other day, and here are some of the samples I got!

image

Animal Rage: It sounds so intense that I think it may provide the workout help I need! Created by Universal Nutrition, the two product samples I recieved are pre-workouts called Amp’d Up in Orange Juiced and Slaughter Melon… hehe get it!? It also comes in Apple Jacked, but that was not one of the samples in my pack.

Their belief is: “Energy. Focus. Intensity. Insanity. With each preworkout pack popped or powdered “shot” banged back, Animal Rage delivers the goods. Like an adrenaline shot to the heart, a current of raw power coursing through your veins, an ultra-concentrated dose of Animal Rage packs a knockout punch of energy, focus, performance and endurance ingredients. With minimal fillers and no unnecessary additives, Animal Rage is loaded with only the uncut raw actives, specifically combined for one express purpose—fueling the best workouts of your life. Get in touch with your Rage.”

Next up, Nature Box offered samples to their fans on Facebook in celebration of their success! They offered 1 free sample (out of 3 different ones to choose from) to everyone who Liked their page and signed up with their e-mail and shipping information. I chose the Salsa Spiced Nut Mix to try something new and different, and it was delicious! It encouraged me to sign up to recieve their usual monthly box.

What’s on my Agenda:

More blogging so I can get caught up, and then I get to see Kevin! Fingers crossed that the hot tub is on, because I need to RELAX!

GlossyBox ~ June 2013

I had been waiting and waiting for my first ever GlossyBox, the June edition, curated by Dallas Shaw. With the spoilers and great reviews I was more than willing to pay for the box, it was just the waiting that was killing me!

20130628_181441_resized

Packaging was MIND-BLOWING. It started with this cute polka-dot logo brown and light pink box, then there was another box inside, white with gorgeous artwork and a mini magazine/brochure…

20130628_181640_resized

…AND THEN within that box, it was all wrapped up with tissue paper and a bow. Lots of effort.

20130628_182640_resized

It came with a guide that showed all of the brands and products included, just in case you weren’t sure about an item or wanted to read more up on it.

20130628_182740_resized

So, here’s the first look!

20130628_185848_resized

Items included:

20130628_185953_resized

c. Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist not only smells amazing, it felt great too! I know this brand already, so I was really excited to see it included in this months subscription box, plus it was an item I had not tried before. I will definitely be using this, and still can’t get over how yummy it smells.

20130628_190244_resized

The perfume samples included, all wrapped in a a silk bag were 6 samples from the Oscar de la Renta Essential Luxury Collection! I never tend to buy a full-size perfume until I have sampled and worn a perfume quite a few times, and so this is a great set because you can figure out which scents work for you! Perfect travel size + a little bag to keep it all together.

20130628_185925_resized

Philip B. products were included in this months box, I believe I’ve seen at least 3 different variations of hair products, however I received the African Shea Butter Gentle & Conditioning Shampoo. This brand has a good rep, so I am willing to give the product a try! I wish it was a summer sea-salt tousling spray or something of that theme, but I’m sure it’ll be great.

20130628_190102_resized

Next up is the SpaRitual Nail Polish in Days of Wine and Roses! I loveee this color, and I apologize because my pictures never do nil polish any justice (something with the glare and lighting) but it’s this perfect purple-burgundy color, dark enough for winter, but light enough for summer. It has a slight shimmer/sheen, but is not something I would consider sparkly or glittery. Can’t wait to use it!

     20130628_190021_resized

And now, the whole reason I signed up for this box in the first place (well, the real push!) was the full-size tarte Complexion Enhancing Lipstick in Fair/Light. First off, I’m a fan of tarte, so when I saw this two-tone lipstick which was not only something I had not owned or tried yet, but also in colors that were supposed to boost my complexion, I was sold. It basically covers 75% of the cost of a GlossyBox too!

   20130628_190119_resized

PLUS: I got a FREE natural duo eyeshadow from MODELco for using the code Love when GlossyBox had a promotion going on! Although the promotion is no longer active, they almost always have something going on, like 10% off a subscription, a free lip gloss, etc.

20130628_190612_resized

So.. why havn’t you signed up yet? Prices start at $21 (inc. shipping) per month and get cheaper based on the more months you sign up for!

There are already promos and spoilers for next month like a Figs & Rouge Lip Balm tube (Value $9)

Wantable ~ June 2013

20130626_173827_resized

Call me the beauty blogger of subscription boxes, but I always get an adrenaline rush when I know a surprise box filled with makeup, hair and body products are arriving! I love snacks (well, food in general) and working out (these two seem to contradict each other, oops!) but trying new products, and getting ones I love from renowned brands is my specialty.

20130626_174050_resized

So where am I going with this? The Wantable Beauty Box subscription of course! Wantable is a subscription box company that allows you to choose between two different options: beauty or jewelry and accessories. For me, a no brainer, I want all the mascara and lipstick in the world! And so Wantable was lovely enough to send me a complimentary box to review… so here we go!

First look: Always my favorite part- I love companies that use cute packaging!

20130626_173910_resized

They include an invoice that shows your preferences as well as shipping and contact info in case you would like to return anything. One of the great things about this company is that if you are not satisfied, you can return the items!

The items I received were:

 20130626_174603_resized

Lise Watier Eyebrow Essentials in Brunette: A two-tone palette of brown eyebrow powder to use to fill in this brows, and add definition! I love the case it comes in, a classy metal snap-close case, along with a brush to use. I definitely will be using the lighter shade, but the dark one will have to wait until the wintertime.

20130626_174659_resized

At first I started jumping up and down thinking this was liquid eyeliner (my life staple!) and then I steadied for a second and began to read the packaging.. hmm Manna Kadar Transfix Eyeliner. I was thoroughly confused for a good few minutes until I realized that you use this formula and brush to turn dry eyeshadow into liquid eyeliner! Mind blown. Now I have a use for the crazy weird eyeshadows I’ve been getting in gold, purple and blue.

20130626_174758_resized

I really liked the packaging for the Besame Cosmetics Classic Color Lipstick in Coral. The little bag made it special and seem like a prized possession while the box reminded me of old-school, classy Paris. I actually don’t have any lipsticks or glosses that are coral-colored so I’m intrigued to give this one a try!

20130626_174943_resized

This Cala Retractable Blush Brush is great! It feels like a good-quality brush, and it has it’s own case/cover to slip it back down into so you don’t get powder all over your bag. I may end up using it for foundation since it’s on the bigger side, but my current brush is getting a bit old, so I will definitely be using this.

20130626_174243_resized

I’ll be honest, I don’t really do sparkly or shimmery nail polish (which I’m pretty sure I marked as a dislike) and so when I saw that I got the Rainbow Honey Nail Lacquer in Pink Cloud (a pink glittery polish), I was kinda bummed. When looking at some other bloggers boxes, I wish I had received the EcoTools false eyelashes or FACE Stockholm Volumizing Mascara (or even one of the other polishes, like the skinny white bottle I’ve been seeing), however Lara Eurdolian (creator and curator) and the Wantable crew did well with the rest of the items and I give them props for that. I’ll find a friend who enjoys glitter more than myself so that she can enjoy the polish.

20130626_174854_resized

Finally, there was a Apothederm Serum Sample (with Gift Card) which is a good size to try out the firming serum, and if I do end up liking it, I get $25 off any purchase of $75 or more.

        20130626_175041_resized

For $36 per month (or $40 one-time buy) I think this box was well worth it, and if you don’t agree, at least you can send it back or change up your beauty profile. Sign up by clicking my link here!

BuluBox Weightloss ~ June 2013

photo 3

Hi all! I’m going to apologize in advance for the delay.. I received about 4 boxes all on the same day, and then another stack of boxes a few days later so this post got a bit delayed! And for my chipped nail polish from when I originally took these pictures!

photo 2

BuluBox is unique because it combines workout and diet supplements with some healthy snacks and lifestyle items. And now, it’s one of my favorite boxes! Why? Because it’s not expensive… seriously it’s $10 per month, shipping included, for 3-6 awesome products to try out! Plus they always have promotions going on like getting your first box for free or $5 off.

I know I got my first box FREE by using promo code HEALTHYCAREER or INSPIRED or HE6CB2 (if any of these don’t work anymore feel free to let me know)

Now, there’s even the BuluBox Weight Loss option which is the one I chose! This month’s theme was “Let’s Party” in honor of their 1st birthday/anniversary as a company! And let me say, it was a great box… they even included a post card that showed all the items with some details and information:

photo 1

Now onto the items…

photo 1

I don’t often use probiotics, so I can’t really say that this one worked or not… because it was only a sample pack with two pills. The packaging was pretty decieiving, showing a 30 capsule supplement when we only got two pills! However, the brand has a good rep so if the price was right, I would look into it.

photo 3

This interests me and weirds me out all at the same time… EatGreenTea.com Organic Edible Green Tea. This is definitely getting blended into a smoothie or mixed up in my yogurt/oatmeal to give it a try! If it has 30 cups worth of antioxidants, energy and health benefits of green tea, I’m interested.

photo 2

BlueCetin Hangover Protection… enough said, they got my attention, and this will be used ASAP!

photo 3

I’m really into thermogenics and weight loss supplements (not psycho weight-loss pills, but just natural or energy-boosting pills that give you that extra push) and so I’m excited to give the Shapeology BurnBlends a try! Anyone have luck/positive results with them so far?

flapjacked

Last but definitely not least: FlapJacked Protein Pancake Mix in Apple Cinnamon! Yum! I was just making pancakes the other day trying to avoid putting any flour or sugar (basically blending oats, bananas, eggs and flax together) and I wish i had this instead! Would have definitely made things easier, plus it looks and seems delicious.

photo 4

And… here’s it all tied together! My favorites being the FlapJacked Protein Pancake Mix and the BluCetin Hangover Protector.

What’s on my…. July 2nd ~ Best Self Tanners and Upcoming Subscription Box Reviews!

What’s on my mind:

Pink Nails

I can’t believe the weekend is over already! I had a successful spa weekend that consisted of hitting the gym, a manicure (getting new acrylic tips~~ see above!), getting an eyebrow wax, going shopping, and starting to get packed and ready for my vacation, which begins tomorrow night! Eeek!

I just went out and did a drugstore run to make sure I was fully stocked up with shampoo, conditioner, makeup, and of course, Sunscreen! (which you’ll see why this is so important below)

What’s on my body:

Aloe, lots of it. Why do you ask? Because I foolishly let myself get burnt to a crisp trying to get a nice base tan before my vacation. I know, so dumb, especially with all the articles about proper sun and skin care and how drastic a sunburn can affect your skin and possibility for cancers. And so, here is my list of favorite self-tanners, because those are all I’m going to be using for a while!

I have always been a huge fan of the gradual self-tanners, like Jergens Perfect Glow and L’Oreal Sublime Bronze. They recently re-vamped their formulas to smell better, go on easier, and last longer!

Sublime Bronze

I just purchased and used the L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Lotion and Misting Spray (I usually get the gradual tanner lotion but I decided to go for the straight-up self tanner this time). Both the Self-Tanner Lotion and Aerosol Spray are effective, and give you a nice glow without looking like an Oopma Loompa. Just be careful to shave and exfoliate before hand, and to go easy around your elbows, knees, wrists and ankles or else they will be 2 shades darker than the rest of your body. For under $12 a pop, these are my favorites when I want to get glowing in a day! Depending on your activities, it could last up to a week! Personally, I apply the self-tanner about 2x per week, as I do go to the gym a few times per week. If you’re the type of person who goes into the ocean/goes to the beach 5 days a week, you may need to re-apply more often because of the salt water and sand rubbing it off. I’m going to use the Spray version to refresh/touch up my tan tomorrow,  so I’ll let you know if I recommend one over the other. I would not use the tan-towels version- suuuper streaky!

Jergens 3 Day

Jergens now has a 3-day ‘super’ formula that is supposed to make you gradually tanner in less time than normal! I tried this one a few weeks ago, and think it’s definitely a great product and you get the same results from applying 2x than with the regular formula you have to apply it approx. 4 times for the same result. The only downside to this product is that it’s the same price (give or take) as the normal gradual self tanner, however it’s a smaller bottle so you need to purchase it more often to maintain your tan.

Each of these companies do make separate face tanners for those of you with oily or acne-prone skin. I don’t buy them that often, but it is a nice option to have if the regular lotions are too ‘oily’ for your more delicate skin and clog your pores.

Screen shot 2013-06-28 at 1.48.15 PM

Now, if you want to talk the pricier, overnight bronze goddess formulas, I’ll point you in the direction of St. Tropez (Self Bronzing Lotion or Mousse- $40), Beautisol Summer Glow ($40) or Fake Bake ($25-35) . But please, exfoliate and wear either gloves or a mitt with these, or else your hands will be brown for days! And put down old sheets on your bed so you don’t ruin your nice stuff with brown goo! PLUS: I just found out the hard way, that these formulas (the direct tanners/not gradual tanning lotions) that while they are the best hands down for flawless application and that perfect glow, after a while they do go bad. I reently opened up my cabinet to see which I still had left to use, and when I began to pour it out, it was this EMERALD-MOSSY GREEN COLOR! So, if you’re going to spend the cash to buy it, please make sure you use it within 6 months or so.

What’s on my To-Do list:

The reviews for the June Bulu Weight Loss Box and June Wantable Beauty Box and June GlossyBox will be going up within the next day or so! Hope you’re all excited to check those out, or if you want to can look back at my recent reviews of Out of The Box Sampler, Juniper, Peckish, Sent Her Way or JackedPack!

I have a bunch of new subscriptions as well as current ones soon to arrive for July, so prepare for a busy month of posts once I’m back from vacation. I have some of the following soon to feature for July: The Fantasy Box, BeautyArmy, Ipsy Glambag, SkoshBox, NatureBox, JackedPack Custom,  FitBox by Platinum Box,  and MORE! That is a serious amount of boxes.. plus I’m sure there are more that I just can’t think of at the moment.

I’m also working on/looking into new subscription box companies for August, so if anyone knows of New or Up-and-Coming Subscription Box companies that are looking for blogger reviews, let me know! You can comment here on my post or e-mail me at kenziedegen@gmail.com

So…. what’s on your mind/to-do list and body today!?
