Boxycharm ~ September 2014

Hi all! Sorry it took me so long to get this post up, but I’ve been in the process of packing and moving, so some of my boxes got a little scattered. Anyhow, I am SO excited to share my thoughts on the September Boxycharm box with you! Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription and it’s definitely my favorite at the time being. I’ve been impressed for the past two months with the brands, products, packaging and positive changes with their website and company.

This month’s theme was “Fashion Week Fabulous” and although they released 3 spoilers earlier this month (see here), I was excited to see the colors I would receive and the unknown products. Each Boxycharm box comes with an info card and my jaw dropped when I saw the retail prices for each item in comparison to the $21 we pay monthly. Amazing! Over $140 worth of items for a fraction of the price. They even included Tarte and My Name Necklace discount cards too.

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Exposed ($19) –This was the 1st spoiler, which I think drew in a lot of subscribers! I love the brand Tarte, especially their lip and cheek products, and so I was happy to see this product. Normally, I’m a lipstick or lip stain kinda girl as lip gloss is too sticky for my liking, but I’ll definitely get a use out of this.

NCLA Nail Lacquer in Model Behavior ($16) – This was the 2nd spoiler, a high-end nail polish that comes in three different shades. While I’m not usually excited to see nail polish in my subscription box (because I own so many and often get my nails done and barely use my colors), I was ecstatic to see that is was exactly the one I wanted- a deep charcoal gray! I don’t own any colors like this and it’s perfect for my transition into darker colors for the season. Plus, NCLA polish is 5-free!

Here we have Coastal Scents Go Palette in Paris ($12.95/currently on sale for $8.95) . This was the 3rd spoiler this month and although I really don’t need or want any more eyeshadows, it seemed like a pretty good item anyway. Off the bat, I liked the packaging that it came in, and how sturdy the palette felt. I immediately checked out the colors and although they weren’t what I originally wanted, I realized they were perfect fall/winter colors. Only strange thing is… there’s no applicator/eyeshadow brush! Sure, I tend to use my finger or can use one of the various brushes I own, but for on the go, I think it needs an applicator of some sort.

Tarina Tarantino Fleur de Lash Mascara ($19) – Wow, I’ve been getting a LOT of Tarina Tarantino products lately! From my primer from Wantable to my hyperliner, hyperlight and lipstick in previous Boxycharms, I feel like I’ll end up trying every product from this brand by the end of the year! Not to say that I’m disappointed at all, sure I would like to try/see other brands too, but I’ve been loving these. So, this month, they sent everyone Tarina Tarantino Fleur de Lash Mascara, a limited edition mascara. I really love the packaging and the brush looks promising for making my lashes longer and thicker.

Finally, we have Hello by Harvey Prince ($29) – I’ve gotten a sample of this before and originally, I wasn’t a huge fan. Maybe I didn’t give it a chance or put it to the side too soon, but I am now loving this sweet, light summery scent with hints of meyer lemon. I’m actually a little surprised we didn’t get this in a Spring or Summer box as it’s a little light and sweet for Fall and Winter, but I’ll still use it.

The Verdict: This was a pretty great Boxycharm box for me! Although I’m not huge on eyeshadow or palettes, I will definitely be using all of the products and can’t wait to test out my beautiful dark grey NCLA Nail Polish and Tarina Tarantino Mascara. The Hello by Harvey Prince perfume will be going in my handbag or travel bag as it’s the perfect size as well!
