Allure Sample Society ~ September

Allure & BeautyBar.com’s Sample Society is really ahead of the game! They sent out their boxes nice and early this month, arriving neatly on my doorstep just a day ago. I was intrigued to see what would be inside the box as I saw a few spoilers, but they didn’t give everything away.

However, they forgot the information card/magazine however… not sure if anyone else experienced that.

First up, we have Tarte Brazilliance Face Wipes, 3 packets ($6-7). This was one of the spoilers and I was a bit mixed on it. I love Tarte as a brand and I do like self-tanners, but it’s starting to turn into Fall and I think these would have been a better May-August item. I’ll definitely use them however!

Ironically enough, just when I decided to purchase a primer, I’ve been getting sent a bunch of them in my subscription boxes! I’m definitely happy to see the Lorac POREfection mattifying face primer ($3) and test it out. It’s pretty small, which is a let down, but I’m hoping it works to keep me shine-free and poreless!

I love Alterna, so I was happy to see this Alterna Caviar RepaiRx Re-Texturizing Protein Cream ($9). This is a leave-in treatment and I’m getting some split ends because I’ve been lazy about trimming my hair, so I’m going to give this a whirl.

I have no idea how this Restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream ($85) is so expensive, but I’m hoping that means it really works! It’s a small but attractive jar with a light scent and hopefully great results.

Finally we have Givenchy Dahlia Divin ($2) Very perfumy and strong… you could smell it all the way upstairs when I only sprayed a bit. I will not be using it, but giving it to my Mom instead as it seems more her style.

Overall, I’m really happy with the face primer and protein cream, intrigued to try out the eye cream, saving my tanning wipes for special events (so I don’t look like a ghost in fall/winter) and passing off the perfume as it’s not my taste.  I would have liked to see a few makeup items, as technically this box was all skincare, haircare and perfume, and would have preferred a perfume that was more suitable for daytime and a younger audience.
