So the new hot item lately happens to be College Care Packages! If only these existed a few years ago… I would have been so happy to check my mail each day waiting for my subscription box. UBOX is a fairly new college care package subscription company that sends out monthly boxes filled with an array of goodies, ranging from tea and snacks to laundry supplies, energy drinks and dorm decor… all for $35 per month. Best of all, starting with this month’s box (December) they are customizing it for males or females.
My package arrived swiftly via USPS Priority Mail, and they even included a little note apologizing if the box seemed messy. I thought it was perfectly fine, but it was a nice addition. And so, I began to dive in…
They included a cute card on top that I almost wished I had a bunch to fill out and give to friends!
And luckily, a very detailed information letter! The front outlined my shipping information, comments about the company and so on..
And the back listed the entire contents of my UBOX! It was definitely helpful for a few items that I was scratching my head about. Plus, with this huge list of items, I was definitely getting more excited as I read on.
First up, we have 3 different boxes/flavors of Energems! I actually have had these before in the Chocolate-Mint flavor and love them! They must have came in my November KlutchClub Box and I devoured them pretty quickly. They are great-tasting energy supplements that are low calorie, made with real chocolate and contain caffeine equivalent to coffee/energy drinks. I’m most excited to try the peanut butter chocolate ones now!
Another familiar item happens to be this set of Flavrz Energy supplement drink mixes. These liquid packets can be mixed into a water bottle, shaken, and drank like any other gatorade or mio drink. With amino acids, caffeine, antioxidants and green tea extract, this is a sure hit.
I LOVE the colors of this scarf.. oh and it’s Lucky Brand too! They really chose a good one here, and normally the scarves run from $35-60 each, so this is definitely a great steal for the price of the box. It’s a little too cold to wear now, but would serve as a great accent scarf to an outfit or in the spring when it warms up a bit.
Laundry is one of my least favorite activities and so little things like these Grab Green Laundry and Bleach Pods make it a bit easier. Plus it’s organic and based with natural products rather than harsh chemicals.
Clearly one of my favorites of this box are the Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark Chocolates! They are just delicious, and fit perfectly with the holiday season.
Here we have Yogi Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy Tea, which is meant to not only taste good but give you an energy boost when you need it. I’ve had various Yogi Teas before (not this one specifically) and really like the brand. It’s a great alternative to coffee as well.
Dream Water is a clever little bottle of a ‘sleep-easy’ drink that contains melatonin and soothing, natural ingredients so you sleep well and wake up refreshed rather than foggy. I’ve used this before as well (usually 1/2 a bottle on a weeknight, full bottle if I want to sleep well on a weekend) and it tastes pretty good and works well. This is perfect if you’re up late worrying about a test and need to get some rest.
I’ve heard about Dr. Bronners Magical Soap but never used it before and so I jumped at the chance. This little bottle apparently works in 18 ways and contains all natural ingredients so whether you want to wash your face, body, fabric or various other things, it’s supposed to work well.
Here we have a Starrily Nail Polish in Snowmance. I love the name and the cute glittery shapes (even though I’m not a big glitter nail polish person), as it’s very different from other nail polishes I’ve used before. Worth about $10 and sold on Etsy, this is a nice, unique addition to the box.
I had no idea what these were at first, until I matched them up to the box description! They felt squishy, but the writing on the packets made me think it was something techy/electronic related. In actuality, they are Pura-Fit Ear Plugs! Perfect for if you’re trying to sleep while a roommate is up watching tv, or traveling home on a crowded train and bus.
You can never have too much white-out, and now that Bic started making these White-Out Correction Tapes, it’s much less messy! I have tons of these at home and work, and could imagine running out at school and just being too lazy to go buy more.
For a night in with movies or a midday snack, this Orville Redenbacher’s Kettle Corn is perfect. The only downside is that since it was a single pack (like taken out of a larger box) there was no label as to what type of popcorn it was (perhaps I skimmed over it too quickly on the info sheet), and so I assumed it was regular or super butter and found out after popping that it was sweet Kettle Corn.
This is an interesting item… this BubbleShield Waterproof Sleeve by The Joy Factory is a waterproof, inexpensive case you can slip any smartphone or device into. On their website, they say you can “shoot video with your iPhone at the poolside, use your Android tablet as a car mechanic’s bible, or follow that new recipe on your iPad…all without worrying about that occasional spill.” I really hope it works as well as they say!
Happen to forget it was your roommates birthday until the last minute? UBOX included a polka-dot gift bag, tissue paper and a card, just in case! I’ll actually be using this to wrap up a Christmas present with, and have to applaud them for a smart and unique idea.
Finally, we have a stack of index cards, just in time for finals. I used to use these all the time for flash cards when studying and ‘cheat sheets’ for speeches. Now, I’m currently using them to
These final items were my ‘freebies,’ which are little extra surprises they throw into the box. These “His Money” and “Her Money” Perfume Samples are perfect to throw in your purse or overnight bag.I’m a little picky when it comes to my scent, so I may give these to a friend.
All in all, this was a very packed to the brim and exciting college care package, and I definitely can find use for each and every item. In general, UBOX tends to send more practical items such as things for the classroom, to help with homework, to do your laundry, etc… however I like that they also send some pampering/luxury items such as the nail polish and scarf. My favorite items are definitely the Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark Chocolates, Lucky Brand Scarf and Yogi Teas!
