Beauty Box Five/5 is a monthly beauty and skincare subscription box, sent to your address each month. Similar to Ipsy and Birchbox, you are sent a box with makeup, skincare and beauty items, where some are the same for everyone, and a few can vary in color or style. For only $12 per month, you will get 5 items, some full-size and some deluxe samples.
And so, I popped open my box (which was adorably tiny.. I wasn’t totally sure how they managed to fit everything in it!) and saw the information card right on top. The theme was “Take is Easy,” showing a girl starting to bundle up with gloves, hot coffee/hot cocoa and a fresh new manicure.
Here’s the first full look! You can see that they really packed everything in and that everything arrived in good condition.
Their information card also included some details if you’re interested in any of the products. It shows the full-size prices, the websites you can purchase from and some other fun facts.
First up, we have Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion, in a little deluxe-sample/to-go size. It’s nothing fancy in terms of smell or design, and so it can be used by many people, especially those with sensitive skin. While I would prefer something that smells nicer (to me, that would mean either a perfume, or a fruity tropical scent), this is definitely a good product and will get used.
Next is Nubar Nail Polish in Alter Ego, a gliimmering transluscent glitter shade. I’ve never been much of a glitter polish fan. Every now and then, I put it on my accent finger either to make it pop against a color, or use at the tips of my nails like falling snowflakes. It’s not really ‘strong enough’ to use without a color below it. In general, I would prefer a matte or shiny 1-color shade, but I will use it here and there.
I have to say that I appreciate how they tried to match a shimmering nail polish with the glittery Swissco toe dividers. You can actually use 2 of the products provided in this Beauty Box 5 box together! I’m happy with mine as I got the hot pink glitter ones. The only downside to this is that this is an easy product to get/inexpensive.
LA Fresh Travel Wipes are actually not only useful but have been popular lately in my subscription boxes. This one is formulated with aloe vera, cucumber and vitamin E to not only cleanse but moisturize and soothe your skin. I would compare them best to the Yes To Cucumber Wipes, and say that both brands are great and can be found in my purse and overnight bags.
The final product is Model Co Lip Liner. I’m not totally sure how I feel about this product, just because I’ve never used lip liner before and it seems like a pretty bold pink. It’ll make a good present for a friend at Christmas-time!
All in all, for this being my first ever Beauty Box 5, I have to say I’m impressed but not overwhelmed. While I’m not really a fan of the nail polish color I got (iridescent, glittery) and I’ve never used lip liner, I will be sure to use the glittery toenail dividers and the facial wipes. If I had any recommendation for them, I would say keep up the good quality brands, however focus on products that more people are able to use. I, personally, would have done better if I got the ModelCo Lipstick or Lip Gloss rather than a pencil, just for the fact that I never use one and I’m not sure whether I love the color or not. Almost everyone can use a skin-sensitive lotion like Aveeno, and the nail dividers, so props to that. In their next box, I would like to see a mascara or eyeliner, and bath product like a bubble bath gel, soap with loofah, body scrub, etc.
