My August “Beauty Schooled” Ipsy Glambag arrived last week, and I was intrigued to check it out. I did get a preview to see all the items I would be getting ahead of time, but it’s always fun to see it in person and compare the size and quality. I have to say, I’m usually an Ipsy aficionado, convincing friends and co-workers to join, but this month was not one of my favorites…
First up is an item that I’m 50-50 about. Personally, I am not a fan of grape and not too fond of shimmery or glittery things, however I tried to look past the shimmer and grape-y scent and enjoyed the smoothness of this Absolute New York You’re The Balm. I would recommend the product (in comparison to a Carmex, LipSmackers, etc), however next time I would definitely try to get a flavor like Strawberry.
Next we have Coastal Scents Forever Blush. This sample-sized dual blush offers one bold, bright pink blush, and a peachier bronzy blush. While I kinda like the color options, I don’t like that it’s too narrow to actually run a blush brush without the two colors mixing, and the quality is so-so. Additionally, it’s a bit of a turn-off and lowers the value when the package itself says “Sample” on it.
One of my favorite items in my August Ipsy Glambag has to be this deluxe mini Dr. Brandt Pores No More! I’ve used this product, plus many other Dr Brandt products before, and totally recommend it. It’s silky smooth, goes on easily, lasts long and hides your pores for a smooth, clear complexion.
Personally, I can never have too many black eyeliners, so I like this Lord & Berry Black Silk Mini Kohl Eyeliner. Many argue, begging for other colors or varieties, but I use black liquid eyeliner daily, and often these kohl pencils on the weekend or for nighttime looks. I’ve actually never heard of the brand before this, so I’m a bit interested by it, and was a tad disappointed by how tiny it is in size. Good for on the go, but I think it will only last through a few sharpenings.
Finally, we have Urban Decay Perversion Mascara. I actually received a sample of this already, so I didn’t have that “new and exciting product” reaction, however, I’ve been using my sample every day and so I was definitely happy to get another one. This is comparable to Benefit They’re Real and Tarte Lights, Cameras, Flashes, which are my two favorite mascaras.
Here’s the entire lot of items from my August Ipsy Glambag! I was definitely happy to receive the Dr. Brandt Pores No Pore and Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, however I wasn’t as fond of the other products. In general, I’d like to see more of a variety, specifically brands and/or products that other subscription boxes are not sending.
