Urthbox ~ Classic ~ May

image

UrthBox is a snack and food subscription box that sends full-sized products every month. I’m still a tad confused about the size of my box, because I ordered a 3-month subscription when there was only one option, but I think it’s the medium sized classic box. Also, if you have dietary restrictions, you can opt for the Diet, Vegan or Gluten-Free box instead of the Classic.

They run at $29, $39 or $49 per month for each different size, and the price drops greatly when you sign up for multiple months up front. Plus, you may be able to get $10 off your first box with coupon code CRUNCHWEEK if you sign up soon!

Here’s the first look, and then a close-up on their welcome/information card. This month, my UrthBox was PACKED to the brim!

Now onto the good stuff!

image

Drink Chia! in Strawberry-Citrus flavor is… well, interesting. I don’t think I’d outright buy it because the chia seeds floating in it freak me out a bit, but it tasted okay and would serve as a good alternative to smoothies or calorie-packed snacks.

Cobra Corn in Bombay Seasoning – This bag of spiced popcorn sounds and tastes amazing! I often have regular and kettle corn, but this is a nice way to change it up with 10 different spices that give it quite a kick.

image

I Heart Keenwah in Ginger Peanut – I wish I had gotten the chocolate version of this, just because I’ve received this flavor already, and they’re okay, but I think it would be better if they were peanut butter cookie dough, or cranberry almond, or another variation. They are hard little bites that you can eat on the go in place of chips or fat-packed items.

The Good Bean Crispy Crunchy Chickpeas in Sea Salt – I usually make my own at home in the oven – spicy with chili + garlic or sweet with cinnamon + honey, but these are good for on the go. I wish they had more of a flavor kick.

image

SuperEats Kale + Chia Chips in Chili Lime Kale  I’ve never had these before and so I was a little nervous, but they’re not bad! I’m not sure I’d go crazy and repurchase, but they were good to try and I like the chili lime flavor.

Ricky’s Lucky Nuts in Spicy Chile Chipotle – chipotle seasoned nuts? I’m in. That is all! Send me more!

Chimes Ginger Chews in Orange-  I’m not a big ginger fan (besides for ginger ale and putting ginger in Thai/Japanese/Chinese food) so I will probably give these to a friend, but other bloggers loved them!

Nana’s Pound Cake Cookie is a super soft, buttery cookie that almost is like a slice of fresh pound cake! It’s definitely not “good for you” as advertised (~260 calories, and fairly high carb/sugar) but serves as a good alternative for when you can’t get a fresh slice of cake! Plus, it’s vegan.. oh and, delicious.

Frontier Bites – These macadamia pineapple and coconut flavored bites are like a mix between a kind bar and the I Heart Keenwah bites- crunchy and nutty and good for on the go.

Go Healthy New York Date Bar – I received this in Cashew Date flavor and I like how simple the ingredients are, but would have preferred an apple or apricot flavored one. It’s good if you want to avoid processed protein and snack bars and I can definitely see my friends going nuts over it.

In general, this wasn’t my favorite UrthBox because of the high amount of trail mix/chia infused items, but it was nice to try new things. While I wasn’t a fan of the Chia drink, ginger chews or I Heart Keenwah bites, I really loved the Nana’s Pound Cake, Ricky’s Nuts and Cobra Corn!
