UrthBox ~ Classic ~ March

image

I tried UrthBox for the first time in January and loved it! (see here) So, when they had a promotion going on, I decided “Hey, why not?” and ordered a 3-month subscription to check it out. Personally, I opted for the Classic Box to get a feel of the box, plus I’m not gluten-free or vegan, so I thought I’d go the traditional route. I am, however, tempted by the Diet Box as they may have a few healthier options.

The large, HEAVY, brown UrthBox arrived and I was definitely excited to unpack it.

The card was very cute and had a “St. Pattys” and earthy color scheme, however it lacked the information about the products like in my previous box.

Now.. onto the good stuff!

image

First, we have Chick-a-Peas, which are sea-salt roasted chickpeas, perfect for snacking on! All natural and oven-baked, these serve as a high-fiber and healthier alternative to chips or pretzels. I actually tend to make my own (either spicy chipotle garlic or a sweet honey-cinnamon) but these are good for when I don’t have the time to make my own.

image

I’m a little bit confused by these Pur-Absorb Iron Supplements, only because I thought UrthBox was a food-only box. However, these come in handy for anyone who is anemic or low-iron.

image

I also think this EcoDent sample was thrown in like a “freebie” as it’s a small sample-size. I’ll definitely test is out, as it an eco and mouth-friendly gum and mouthwash.

I’ve gotten Hemp Hearts a few times in the past and often try to incorporate them into my oatmeal, muffins and/or pancake mix to increase the grains and fibers. I prefer to blend them into a fine powder, but you can eat them just the way they are too!

image

Similar to the hemp hearts, these Salba Ground Chia Seed Boosts can be added to any mixture to give it more health and antioxidant benefits. I’ve actually only used whole chia seeds before, so this will be an exciting trial process for me. I’m thinking of making lemon-chia seed muffins!

Okay, to be perfectly honest, I am not a fan of these Baked Cheddar Fries. I’ve had them before and decided, “well, I’ll give them another chance,” and I just don’t enjoy the flavor at all. This is the one scenario where I’d rather have a handful of Cheez-Doodles than a whole bag of these.

On the other hand, I have had and enjoy these Beanfields Bean & Rice Chips. They’re like a mix of a tortilla chip and doritos and perfect to have with dips like salsa, guacamole or queso!

image

I also love these Snapea Crisps! I’ve had them before and at first, I was skeptical. Upon finishing two bags, I was hooked! They’re crispy, crunchy and salty and unlike any other snack I’ve had before.

image

I am really excited to try out this Calnaturale Svelte Enjoy Yourself Cappucino Protein Shake. I’m always looking for great-tasting protein shakes, and I’ve seen this brand floating around, but never had a chance to sample it. It’s pre-mixed and perfect for on-the-go, so it would be handy post-gym, for a long car ride or to bring to work.

image

I absolutely love Slim Jims and they will be my downfall. So, I feel a little bit better eating this Shelton’s Jalapeno Turkey Stick as it fulfils the flavor and texture I’m craving with less of the fat and additives.

image

I just have to say, Unreal Chocolates are one of the best brands out there! I’ve had a few different products from them before, and these Unreal Double Ones are like ‘better-for-you’ delicious chocolate peanut butter cups. Thankfully, they sent 3 of them!

image

Next up we have NEO Water, which is an antioxidant and electrolyte-packed water. At first I was wary that it would have a weird flavor (like fruity waters), but it tasted just like normal, good ole’ bottled water. I’m not 100% sure it did anything more beneficial, but it was worth a try!

image

Finally, we have this little Licious Organics Raw Cookie in Cranberry Almond. It’s a little softer than I’m used to, but that’s because it’s a raw, unbaked oatmeal cookie. It’s definitely tasty and reminds me a bit of a granola or oatmeal breakfast bar.

image

All in all, I was happy with the quantity and variety of products, however, I was a bit let down over the idea of them “sending new, undiscovered brands and items” as I have tried Hemp Hearts, Beanfields, Snapea Crisps and a few other brands in previous boxes. Would I recommend UrthBox? Definitely! I’m just hoping next month has more “undiscovered” items and I’m confident UrthBox won’t disappoint.
