Ever heard of Warby Parker? Yes, no, maybe so… well the odds are, if you’ve ever noticed someone with unique, eye-catching glasses or sunglasses walking down the street, those shades could be part of the up-and-coming Warby Parker eyeglasses and sunglasses family. The company prides themselves on ‘cutting out the middlemen’ and handcrafting each pair to ensure that you have a high-quality pair of glasses for a low price (under $150!)
Like various companies who work with charities and organizations, such as the well-known TOMS, for every item you buy, Warby Parker will donate a pair to someone in need. But beyond the basics, I’m more intrigued about their new line of glasses!
With the Palm Canyon Collection, they’ve refreshed some of their best-loved frames including the Winston, Duckworth, Preston, and Wheeler, by using a Palm Springs-inspired palette of mesquite, acacia, ironwood, and sand. Each frame features a hand-mixed acetate inset at the end piece, with patterns inspired by Color Field painters and midcentury minimalists.
Oh, did I forget to mention: designing and constructing the patterns required a technique that took over a year to perfect, and so, each pair is distinguished with a unique contrast detail created by melding sheets of woodwork-inspired acetate and tortoise acetate together. In simple terms: No two pairs are alike. How chic would it be to know that no one else can actually own the same exact pair of shades as you?
Personally, my favorites are these two pairs (above and below) which are the Winston Sunglasses and Preston Eyeglasses! I chose these two because they have an edgy appeal to them.
The Preston Eyeglasses (above) come in a few options, my favorite choices being Red Canyon frame. Both options are made with a beautiful red-brown tortoise pattern, perfect for for all occasions from wearing to work every day to rocking at night.
These Wheeler Sunglasses (below) are the epitome of a new-age cat-eye frame. In Revolver Black, they are so classically cool and look like the type of item that won’t go out of style from season to season. Plus, they are polarized lenses!
