Yay, my Blush Mystery Box has arrived! It’s not the ‘best ever’ Blush Mystery Box, in my opinion, but it had some unique and useful items- some that I will keep and use, and others that will be gifted. For those new to Blush, for only $25 per month (and tax in some areas). you will receive a brown box with a custom black drawstring Blush bag inside, filled with a variety of high-quality makeup, skincare and haircare items. I loved last month’s bag, and so I had high hopes for this one.
Plus, they always throw in some freebies! Here’s a sample of Neostrata Firming Collagen Booster, as well as NHEB-05 Lotion. I have loved their past samples and have gone through the Dremu Oil samples like they’re water!
Each month, they have a specialty curator who chooses out the items that will be shipped out. This month was Lauren Feist, a celebrity makeup artist, and her ‘favorite pick’ was the Cargo High Pigment Pencil in Brown.
I enjoy that they include an information card, because sometimes I can’t quite tell what the deluxe samples are for. Plus, it helps you if you want to re-order or figure out the exact shade of the product. Now, onto the products…
This was the ‘main pick item,’ a Cargo High Pigment Pencil in Brown. I personally would have preferred if it was black or a bold bright blue/green, as it just would fit my style better, however this will be good for low-key days where I want a soft brown smokey eye or want to focus on my lipstick yet still need a bit of eyeliner.
Next, we have Paula’s Choice Resist Ultra Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum. This deluxe sample/mini bottle contains a serum that is supposed to help reduce signs of aging, fight wrinkles and smooth and tighten skin. I feel as thought I have a lot of serums, and would probably use them more if I was older, but this would be a good overnight serum for a weekend away.
I actually recently received a Pur-lisse Cleanser in my FabFitFun VIP Summer Box, and so I was happy to see another product from the company in this box. The Pur-lisse Pur-Protect Essential Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 is great for normal to dry skin as it hydrates while also protecting. I can’t wait to try both products together and see how they work in unison. I kinda wish this came in a summer box due to the high SPF though.
Here we have Nick Chavez Horsetail Root-Lifting Spray. I am a big hair product junkie, always trying to get big volume, smooth bouncy curls or flowing straight tresses, and so I will find great use for this product. I have tried a few different root-volume sprays, and it’s hard to find one that works without making your hair sticky or untouchable.
Unfortunately, this was one of my least favorite items. This mini Anastasia Hydrafull Gloss in Sorbet is a tiny, pocket-sized lip gloss which is good for on-the-go. However, the color if a bit too bubble-gum pink for my taste, and I am not a fan of lip glosses from the start. Perhaps I’ll use it over some lipstick, but I just would not purchase on my own.
Up in my favorites list is this Elizabeth Arden Maximum Volume Black Mascara! Everyone knows I can’t live without mascara, and if I were stuck on a deserted island and could only bring 1 makeup product, it would be just that. I can’t wait to use this and know it will become a purse staple! P.S.- I apologize but some of my pictures ended up super blurry and I had to pull a few online like this one and the one below!
While we’re on the topic of eyelashes… the final item is SmartLash Eyelash Enhancer. It’s a lash enhancement formula for a longer, fuller looking lash line, and apparently it has rave reviews. While they say the best results are based on a 30-60 day time period, applying 2x per day, they say results may be seen in as little as seven days, and it’s also beneficial for brow enhancement. The only thing I’m confused about is the price.. on Dermstore/Blush, they say it’s worth $125, but ‘on sale’ for $30, so it sounds a bit like they tried to inflate it for marketing purposes. However, I’m excited to try it and hope it really works!
Here’s the whole November Blush Mystery Box! I am most happy and excited for the Elizabeth Arden Mascara, SmartLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum and Nick Chavez Horsetail Root-Lifting Spray. In general, it is definitely worth the $25 (the Pur-lisse alone beats the price) but it’s a so-so in my personal opinion. I really hope next month has a wintery-christmasy theme and includes some bold red lipstick, black liquid eyeliner and a deep conditioning hair mask/mud facial mask.
