Quite often when I shop for or post about interior design, it’s focused around clean, modern furniture with sharp edges, mirrored tabletops, symmetrical baskets and more. However, there’s something about that rustic, shabby chic look that draws me in, with distressed furniture, mixed wood materials and cool, soft pastel color accents.

I immediately knew I loved this French Country Style Carved Coffee Table from Chairish, as well as a variety of other rustic coffee tables I saw while browsing on the Chairish website. Not only did I like the distressed brown and off-white color combination, but the design carved into it sold me… and I knew the perfect way to style it. Placed in front of a Striped Settee Couch with grey-finished carving and wicker panels,

I always have a few key things on my coffee table: a beautiful serving tray, sweet-scented candles, unique books and fresh or faux flowers. I’m a big fan of using unusual trays, whether it’s the shape or the material. In this case, a this small pink cake stand served as the perfect item to leverage the vintage metal watering can with flowers above the other items on the table. Additionally, I knew this antique cream and gold clover tray would be perfect for serving drinks and snacks, whether it’s time for tea or time for cocktails. This adorable Miss Etoile teapot and matching eyes & bows mug and eyes & dots mug looked perfect atop the clover tray.

While I usually have real books atop my coffee table, I loved the look of these decorative paper bound in twine books. They have a great combination of elegant calligraphy and antique map illustrations. As mentioned above, cute, matching candles are a neccessity as well. I loved these woven lattice ceramic candles in pale pink and grey as they matched the color scheme of the room without being overwhelming.

A distressed floral end table ties the furniture all together with a pop of color from its pastel pale green base and floral imprint. On top of the end table are a set of white-washed picture frames, perfect for showcasing pictures of family, friends and loved ones. The table also has just enough space to hold a glass if needed, when you’re circled around the coffee table in your living room, drinking and chatting with friends.
