Ipsy Glambag ~ December 2014

image

Ipsy is a monthly beauty, makeup, skincare and haircare subscription box, filled with 4-6 sample, deluxe-sample and full-sized products, plus a unique and reusable makeup bag! This $10 (+tax) subscription box is one of the originals and still one of my favorites.

This month’s theme was black and hot pink, with the information card reading “You are a Brave Soul”. It’s a little confusing to interpret (compared to some of their bags which outright state the products are themed for beach days or glittery new years parties), but I was intrigued…

NYX Butter Lip Balm in Marshmallow (Full Size, Value $4)

Unfortunately, this was probably my least favorite color of the ones available (see all shades here) as it’s a nude shade. However, this lip balm goes on SO smooth, and smells delicious, so I’ll still be using it and am looking into purchasing other color/scent options!

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara (.1 oz, Value $8)

This mascara is one of my all time favorites, and actually the exact one I’ve been using for the past month. So, I was more than happy to see a mini/travel version available as mine was starting to dry out!

Big Sexy Hair 450 Degree Blowout  (1.7 oz Value ~ $4.5)

This heat protectant spray protects hair from heat damage up to 450°F, while also making it smooth and sleek for improved manageability, strength and shine.

Beauty Without Cruelty 3% A.H.A. Facial Cleanser (2 oz- $3 value)
This product is a lightly-foaming, soap-free cleanser that removes dead surface skin cells, daily impurities, and excess oil without over-cleaning your skin. I really like this brand because it’s against animal testing!

Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid (Full Size – Value $15)

I’m 50-50 when it comes to the brand Cailyn and their partnership with Ipsy. On one hand, I really like this above shimmery eye shadow. On the other hand, I’ve had ‘lip tints’ that were half full and terrible consistency. So, for this review, I’ll say I really like the sponge tip applicator (good for blending) and the champagne-nude-pink color of this powder, but I’m still not sold on the brand.

The monthly makeup bag that came with all of these products was simple, but cute. It was black and oval shaped (see above) with a pink heart-shaped pull. Nothing special, but serves its purpose as a makeup bag.

Overall, this my December 2014 Ipsy Glambag was exciting as it had mostly brands I liked, but products I had not tried yet. Hands down, love the Tarte Mascara (as it’s a product I use daily) and the NYX Lip Butter (even though I wish it was another color/scent). I’ll definitely be using the hair protectant spray and face wash as well! The only product that I’m iffy on is the Cailyn eyeshadow/shimmer as I like this so far but don’t totally trust the Cailyn brand.
