Oooh lala, my pink bag has arrived! As many of you know I’m a huge fan of the Ipsy Glambag, however this month had a few great items, as well as a few ‘eh’ items, and items I wish were included in my bag. The theme was Classic Beauty: using neutrals, bold reds, and deep blacks, and of course the bag was super cute.
Major no-no’s included the J.Cat Fantabulous Lipstick because of its terrible orangey-nude color, and items I wanted but did not get were the butter LONDON Nail Lacquer and Jessie’s Girl Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner.
While you may think I’m being picky, I do have to say I enjoyed the other items included, which you can read more about below!
They included a 1-use sample of the “Life Palette” From Michelle Phan’s new makeup line. As you can see, there is a sample of a blush, and variety of eyeshadows in a mix of neutral and rose-toned colors.
Below is the blue and black-printed bag, which definitely has become a favorite in my collection. I was a little surprised that it wasn’t either black and red or white/nude and red to go with the ‘Classic’ theme, but I loved this nonetheless.
So now, here are all the items!
I love mascara and I feel like you really can’t go wrong with mascara in general, unless it’s a cheap sub-par brand. Ipsy stepped it up by including this Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara. My current Maybelline Mascara was starting to get dry and needed to be replaced, and so this was the perfect timing. I like that it came in a nice bold black, rather than a brownish-black or bright color, and I have to say it’s great for lengthening and so-so for volumizing.
The NYX Single Eyeshadow was also an inbetween item for me. I am a pretty big fan of NYX for eyeliner, lipstick and colored lip stains/paints, however I have a huuuge collection of eyeshadows that I rarely use. I lucked out with this nice shimmering charcoal color, but I’ll only use it every now and then for nights out.
Very excited for the Starlooks Kohl Eye Pencil as it will help to give me that smoldering dark eye I love for nights out. While I do wish I got the liquid eyeliner as well, I’m sure I will use this once I run out of my regular black pencil.
This lipstick goes in the Thumbs-Down group. Nothing against the brand, but the nude-shade of this J.Cats Lipstick just does not do me justice. I’ve noticed reviews from other subscribers, and 4/5 agree that this shade is really hard to work with- you need to have the ideal skin tone, or else it makes you look washed out, or like you have pale, awkward lips. Recommendation for next time: stick with pinks, reds and corals…
The final item is actually a 3-pack: These Facial Paper Masks by Freeman are actually really cool. In three different types: Hydrating Blue Agave Paper Mask, Purfying Starfruit Paper Mask and Brightening Rose Paper Mask, it lets you test out multiple types of the product pending on how your skin is. At first glance, I was like “oh.. these are OK, nothing special,” however after I tested the Hydrating Blue Agave Paper Mask out, I totally understand the hype and why people love it. It felt cool and soothing, smelled good and was easy to apply and take off. I can’t wait to try out the other two. 🙂
So, here’s the whole set! While I was disappointed with the lipstick and a little bitter over not getting the Butter London Nail Polish, I do like the rest of the items and the bag itself.
